Performance Testing Guidance

JD Meier, a Program Manager in the Patterns and Practices Group, let me know about a new set of guidance his team is coming out with.  We are finally starting to cofidfy how performance testing should be conducted.  I remember way back in the late 90's when testing Web applications was a black art, that was only practiced in huge labs set aside for big E-Commerce companies.  Those labs used to cost $50K a week or more.  With the advent of relatively cheap hardware and a much better understanding of how scaling a performance test works, perf testing web sites has really come to the masses.
