Microsoft and architecture
Facebook releases an SDK

An interesting development occurred yesterday.  Facebook, 20+ million members, decided to open up their doors and create a platform for SaaS.  In an excerpt from a Fortune article:

"We want to make Facebook into something of an operating system so you can run full applications," Zuckerberg told me, saying it would be analogous to the platform that Microsoft Windows provides for developers. Outsiders can now develop Internet services on Facebook's infrastructure, he explains, that will have full access to all its members. Just as it is when someone writes a program for Windows, programmers won't need any permission from Facebook or any special business relationship with the company. more.....

Microsoft has now entered into a partnership with Facebook to help them provide much of the needed developer capabilities.  We are hosting a Facebook developer landing page and you can now download the Facebook SDK from our website.  Now there is even a Popfly Gadget that you can use to create mashups in!  Always moving at light speed....
