Convert Movie Files to Audio Tracks

I am going to do a bunch of flying over the next couple of days and would like to listen to some Webcasts (WMV files) from my smartphone with my headset.  This being the case i needed to convert the WMV files to WMA.  My first try was to use Windows Media Encoder -but no joy.

My second attempt was to use Movie Maker included in Windows Vista.  The way i did this was to drag my WMV file to the Audio/Music track of my "movie"

Publishing this "movie" Windows Movie Maker was smart enough realize it only needed to output a WMA file.

Viola less than 5 minutes latter i had my Video Webcast converted to a Audio Webcast.

Is what you are telling us, "Use WMM to convert WMV to WMA"? :)
