ACT 5.5 in Non-English Locales Not Recognizing Date Strings: Workaround and Long Term Fix

I’ve been seeing a number of reports on an error while synchronizing with ACT, with an error message indicating something along the lines of:

String was not recognized as a valid DateTime

The errors have thus far come from Germany and The Netherlands. The team has already investigated the issue – it is, indeed, a globalization bug. They have a fix in place for ACT 6.0, but for now to work around the problem you will need to change the Windows locale to English-US. Sorry for the inconvenience, but wanted to unblock those who were confused by this by sharing the workaround.

I have an application which is having a compatible issue, which can be remediated using manifest file. But we don't have the manifest file in built for the application.

Can we create our own manifest file for this application without using any tools?...

@ABC - if you didn't write the software, I don't recommend that you manifest it. Anything you can do with a manifest, you can do with shims, and that's the preferred tool for the IT Pro.

During the preparation of the workshop a customer came across an error message after he deployed the DCPs (about a procedure entry point). I reported it via MS Connect. Some time ago I submitted some bugs and suggestions, but never got a reply. Is it still alive? Or is the ACT-Connect-Entry "dead" and nobody looks after bug reports and feature suggestions?
