Office Developers Conference 2008: SER325 SiteFeed.Demo session files

Today Alex and I delivered a session about using the VSeWSS toolkit for developing applications on SharePoint.

I am going to do a separate post fully detailing the step by step process for building this demo from the ground up ... so stay tuned.

If you cant wait and want to take a look at the finished solution then here are the solution files in a zip file.

Hi Chris,

I was at ODC and saw your session and thought it was great.  However, I'm getting ready to do a demo on Tuesday at a local conference event, and wanted to deploy a web part using VSeWSS 1.1 and it works great up to the deployment step.  After it deploys successfully it doesn't launch the browser and attach to the process like I thought it should.  Are there any cases that aren't supported, or anyway I can try to figure out why it's not working in my case?  I'm running Win2003 Ent SP2, VS 2005 SP1, and IE7.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the VSeWSS 1.1 and that doesn't seem to help.

Thanks,

ScottE

Hi ScottE,

You need to set up the Debug attibute in Web.Config:

To enable ASP.NET debugging

Browse to the set of virtual directories for Windows SharePoint Services; for example, c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories.

Open the web.config file contained in the virtual directory.

Change the line

<compilation batch="false" debug="false"> to <compilation batch="false" debug="true">.

Save the web.config file.
