  • TechEd Online - check out the keynotes and Tech Talks

    image

For those of us who didn't get to head to Orlando for the recent TechEd Developer conference last week - there is a nice little resource called  TechEd Online, where you can see all the keynotes and lots more of the TechTalks that went on there.

Take a look at the developer listing, you can search the talks by track and by keyword.

  • Mix Essentials presentations now live

For any of you who attended the Mix Essentials event here in Dublin a couple of weeks ago, a lot of the presentations are now up on the Mix Essentials agenda page. We'll be adding the recordings of the sessions next week and will then send around links to all the resources. But I thought I would let you know, just in case you want an early peek!
  • TechEd 2008 Europe registration also open!

Speaking of great conferences to go to - TechEd 08 super early bird registration is now open (save 300 EUR).

Always a popular option with developers and IT professionals from Ireland and Northern Ireland, TechEd EMEA Developer has over 15 technical tracks and 3 virtual tracks. Though of course, many people have told us that the best thing about TechEd is getting the chance to speak to all the international experts gathered in Barcelona for the week.

If you are interested in learning more, check out the event website. They have a nice feature where you can take a look at the top 4 presentations from last year - some great content there!

  • Early Bird Registration for PDC 08 now open!

PDC 2008 registration pages are now open - and you can save $200 with the early bird registration rate!

PDC (Microsoft's Professional Developer Conference) is on October 27-30th this year in LA - and with the dollar exchange rate where it is, will probably be a very attractive conference for everyone in Ireland! :) Tickets are only $2,195 with the early bird rate.

If you haven't heard of PDC - you should definitely check out the site - it's the conference (only on every couple of years) where Microsoft unveils all its most exciting future development plans. We'll be waiting with baited breath!!

  • Developer Developer Developer Ireland - get yourself signed up!

DDDLogo Phew! We are just over the IMTC, but there is no rest for the wicked (or at least the MS Tech Community in Ireland). Next up on the agenda is the Developer Developer Developer (or DDD) event happening down in Galway on the May bank holiday weekend.

So, why should you go along?

Well, apart from the impressive agenda - 5 tracks with top notch speakers - there are promises of amazing swag giveaways, and great events (like podcasts from the pub on the Aran Islands - the most westerly point in Ireland, and one of the most spectacular spots to visit on the island) happening around the main event itself. There's even talk of a visit to Craggy Island's parochial house (apparantly there are some Fr. Ted fans among the speakers! ;)

DDD events have been running over in the UK for quite some time and are incredibly popular over there. This is our first one in Ireland, but we're hoping it's the first of many!! Check out this video if you want a feel of what it's all about.

Best of all, this event is totally free - you just have to get yourself there!

Here is a list of the sessions you can choose from - but you should check out the agenda page for full details of each session, timings and even some into videos for the sessions.

  • Another great IMTC - thanks to everyone involved!

Well, IMTC is over for another year - and a big thanks to everyone who made it such a success - congratulations to Barry, Patricia (from Irishdev) and all the speakers in particular! It was fantastic to meet so many great people over the three days.

Thanks aswell to Chuck, Simon, Craig, Dave and Martha who were kept very busy filming all the sessions. We are hoping to have some of those published online over the next few weeks - in case you were unlucky enough to miss out on the event itself... so keep your eyes peeled for them! :)

  • Last chance to register for the Irish Microsoft Technology Conference 2008!

Looking forward to heading along to the opening of the Irish Microsoft Technology Conference later on this evening - maybe I'll see you there. But if you haven't already registered - there is still time... just head along to http://imtc.firstport.ie!

Here are a couple of more tasters from the folks presenting over the next few days... enjoy! :)

  • Community Launch Kits - in the post!

The vast majority of the Community Launch 2008 kits were sent out in the last two weeks. We have about 10 or 12 left to send out (folks that confirmed postal address in the last week or so) - but most of you should have yours by now. Hope you are having fun with them! :)

If you haven't got yours through some postal mishap - just mail your local user group lead and we'll get you sorted!

We will be announcing some additional free training for developers shortly as part of the Launch Experience - so keep your eyes peeled for that!

  • Cool new little teaser for the IMTC!

I'm really liking this neat little teaser for the upcoming Irish Microsoft Technology Conference that I found on the Galway MTUG site! I think it came from one of the NxtGenUG (Next Generation User Group) speakers coming over from the UK... Check it out! :)

  • Bird's Eye View of Irish cities now available in Live Maps

Check out http://maps.live.com to see the new bird's eye view of some of Ireland's cities and towns. Places currently covered are Galway, Cork, Limerick, Navan and Wexford. Check out Eyre Square below!

    clip_image002

I had to clear my cache to get it to work - but now, when you zoom in on cities like Cork, the 'bird's eye' button becomes active. Just click to get the images.

Where's Dublin, I hear you ask? Well, it turns out that the imagery for capital cities is always a little more difficult to capture because of air traffic control restrictions etc. so we'll have a little longer to wait for that.

Word is from the nice people over in the Live Development Group that Dublin is work in progress - we'll be keeping you updated!!

  • Teamprise 3.0 ships - congratulations Martin & everyone else at Teamprise!

Many of you know Martin Woodward, VSTS MVP and recent presenter at the Launch 2008 showcase in the Tripod here in Dublin. Well, Martin and the folks in Teamprise just released Teamprise 3.0 at EclipseCon 2008 earlier this week. Teamprise has a Team Foundation Server plugin for Eclipse so that if you can use Team Foundation Server for both .NET and Java projects. Well worth a look if you work in a mixed development environment!

Martin will also be speaking at the upcoming IMTC and DDD events - check out a snippet of his talk at TechEd 07 in Barcelona to get a feel for what's in store!
