Web Developer Kits Available!

For those of you interested in web development using Visual Studio and ASP .NET, you might be interested in the Web Developer Kits currently available off the European Microsoft Web Developer site.

The kits contains programming resources, training videos, a complete Content Management System, Visual Studio.NET (Trial version) and more. The kit itself is free, but there is a 10 euro shipping fee.

The site also has details of how to obtain free hosting for three months for your newly built ASP.NET applications. Overall, it's pretty good resource to get you off the ground with developing with ASP.NET and Visual Studio.

Hmmm. Why no download? It's about Web, so it should be available from the Web :-)

I'm guessing that'll be the "Requires 3.5GB of free disk space". Still, some details on the "complete Content Management System" and the restrictions on the Visual Studio .Net trial version might be nice...

After registering, you have the option to order or to download. Some of the larger files are not included in the download for obvious reasons. I'll get a complete list of what's not available on the download option.

After registering, look for the download link in small print at the bottom of the Bill-To Country and Language selection page. You can download the following
ASP.NET Resource Kit
Training Videos: ASP.NET for PHP Programmers and Security in ASP.NET
Axinom Enterprise CMS 4.2 - free license
https://www.microsoft.com/emea/msdn/webdev/ie/download.aspx
Looks like it's everything but the VS.NET trial.
I imagine the VS.NET trial restrictions would be on the order of no commercial or production apps, and expires in 60 days. I don't know if VS.NET 2003 trials are currently available for download, but VS.NET 2005 Betas are: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downloads/

Just to clarify - here are some more details on the Content Management System (taken from the DVD):

Description
The Axinom Enterprise CMS is a award-winning content management system based entirely on Microsoft .NET technology, which enables developers to build, deploy, and maintain dynamical internet-presentations, with particular focus on low introduction effort (Time-to-Martket) and high user friendlyness. The Axinom Enterprise CMS is free of license costs. The Axinom Enterprise CMS comes as a Visual Studio.NET Solution with a template-project (incl. source code) and appropriate documentation.

More details of what's in it are included on the CMS MAtrix Site here: http://www.cmsmatrix.org/matrix?func=viewDetail&wid=2&listingId=PwA6V2e2Sf6xwsUvxL_4sA
