Northern Ireland Microsoft Technologies User Group - first meeting: Jan 31, 2005

I am delighted to let you know that the first Northern Ireland Microsoft Technologies User Group (NIM-TUG) meeting will be taking place on Monday, January 31 at the Peter Froggatt Centre (Queens University Belfast). The meeting will start at 7:30pm and will last until about 9pm.

The first talk's topic is the ASP.Net portal framework DotNetNuke. The speaker will be Cathal Connolly who is a DotNetNuke core team member (as well as a NIM-TUG member).

Cathal will be giving an hour long introduction to the new release of DotNetNuke 3.0.x, beginning with the installation and configuration of the portal, and then demonstrating how to easily alter and extend DotNetNuke through the use of skins and modules. During this, he'll touch on the use of the provider model, and various aspects of the portal architecture. Afterwards, he'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Even if you are not interested in the main talk topic please come along anyway and meet the rest of the group. Rob and I will be traveling up from Dublin for the historic occasion - so we look forward to meeting you there.

NIM-TUG is also calling for all members to give feedback on what direction you think the group should take. If you are interested in participating,  please do take a couple of minutes to fill it out: http://www.nimtug.org/Default.aspx?tabid=37

Hi Clare,

Are you going to be webcasting this? I'm interested to hear what Cathal has to say.

Hi Tim - I'm afraid the first one won't be webcast. But I have passed on the feedback to Damien in NIM-TUG - so perhaps they will be in the future!
