Windows Presentation Foundation: The Future of Windows

presented by Ian Griffiths

Summary

In this presentation Ian Griffiths looks at Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF, formerly known as Avalon), the new graphical subsystem that will be the foundation of all graphics in Windows Vista (formerly known as Longhorn).A version will also be made available for Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server at the same time that Windows Vista ships. The talk will discuss why we need WPF, and will show how to work with it. Along the way we will look at key features of WPF such as XAML, composition, layout, animation, and data binding. We will also take a broader view of Vista's offerings, seeing how WPF fits into the future of Windows.
