Community Event Update: great upcoming talks for Cork, Belfast, Galway and Limerick.

Here are some details of the great talks coming to Cork, Belfast, Galway and Limerick over the next while. Bob’s talk on SQL server was packed out in Dublin and was very well received so should be a good night in Cork. Jonathon Caves is over visiting Belfast from Microsoft Redmond – so he will be giving the insider track on what’s new in Visual C++. Also Dave Northey from our team here in Dublin will be visiting Galway and Limerick to give his Longhorn Masterclass.

MTUG Cork presents: Programming SQL Server 2005 with Bob Duffy, Microsoft Ireland

 

Date:  23 April 2007

Location: Cork

 

 

Overview:

This talk will be a deep dive into two new programming features of sql 2005 - Message Queueing and the use of the CLR in stored procedures. Bob will go through examples, case studies and dos and donts from the field on usage of these two new features.

 

Initials Topics are: an Overview of SQL Server Service Broker; Sending/Receiving Messages; Messages, Contracts, Queues, Services, Dialogs; Error Handling; Routing; Security. Bob will also touch on SQL CLR: Relaibility and Scalability; App Domains; Reliability; Exception Handling; Thread; Management; Versioning; Assembly Deployment; dot.net Procedureal Code (Stored Procs, UDFs and Triggers); SqlServer Data Provider and Security.

NIMTUG presents: What's New in Visual C++ 2005 with Jonathon Caves, Microsoft Redmond

Jonathon Caves from the Visual C++ team in Microsoft Redmond will be visiting to give an overview of what's new in Visual C++ 2005. He will be covering optimaizations in Visual C++, security and Visual C++ and Vista.

MTUG Galway and Limerick present: Longhorn Server Master Class by Dave Northey, Microsoft Ireland

Overview:

Microsoft Windows Server code name "Longhorn" is the next generation of the Windows Server operating system that helps information technology (IT) professionals maximize control over their infrastructure while providing unprecedented availability and management capabilities, leading to a significantly more secure, reliable, and robust server environment than ever before.

 

In this session, Dave will cover some of the scenarios which will make "Longhorn" server a must-have for IT organisations when it comes out later this year. Scenarios covered will include: Server Management, Security & Policy Enforcement, Branch Office, Centralised Application Access, Web & Application Platform, Server Virtualisation and High Availability.
