Keynote: Develop and Win with Windows Mobile

 

Find out what the developer opportunities available are with Windows Mobile! The Windows Mobile ecosystem is expanding rapidly and is the place to be. See new devices now shipping or announced as well as the development tools you would use to write compelling and innovative solutions for a variety of markets. Specifically, see a demonstration showing the multi-platform UI designer features of Visual Studio 2005. Elements such as docking and anchoring, the high-fidelity emulators and the ability to build installable CAB files to deploy applications on devices will all be shown live. The session will round off with Microsoft programs that you can engage in to give you the edge to win!

 

Windows Mobile Today

 

New to Windows Mobile? This session will cover the essential information you need to start developing great applications on the Windows Mobile platform. We will tour the two core elements that make creating solutions on this platform easy and effective. We will take a look at what Compact Framework 2.0 and the Windows Mobile 5.0 managed libraries offer the mobile developer. This session will look at such elements as improved COM Interoperability, better performance monitoring, Managed POOM, State and Notification Broker, Security and more. With a great demonstration to tie all the pieces together, you will leave this session with knowledge and inspiration to go create the next Windows Mobile killer application!

 

Extending Windows Mobile Applications

 

Now that you’ve had a taste of what you can do with Visual Studio 2005 and Windows Mobile 5.0, we will introduce you to a variety of additional technologies that will help extend your solutions with even greater capabilities. Take a tour of the newly released patterns & practices Mobile Client Software Factory, a set of libraries that enable you to leverage industry best-practise with minimal effort. We’ll also have a look at the Bluetooth Shared Source Program, SQL Mobile and the Optional Windows Mobile 5.0 Server Components. All of these provide you with specialized abilities that give you the options you need to make great applications. At the end of this session, you will have big ideas to expand what is possible on Windows Mobile today!

 

Session 3: Fun with Windows Mobile

 

You can also have fun in developing mobile applications! In this session, we’ll take a look at graphics on the Windows Mobile 5.0 device. Specifically, Direct 3D Mobile will be reviewed and a demonstration will be made to show the minimum amount of code to render a 3D object on the device. The commercial possibilities are vast! We will also take a quick look at WeFly247-50, a full end-to-end sample application you can use to jumpstart your development with Windows Mobile!
