I mentioned them in an earlier post - but just in case you haven't already seen it - you should check out the new Visual Studio 2008 Express Developer Center - it has links to all the free versions of Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005 Express (to be replaced by a free version of the 2008 product when it becomes available). It also has Samples and Resources, links to a Facebook Dev Kit and the Game Creators Game Development Kit and more... Everything I could see there was free to use!
