Got the drive removal detection blues?

Jan Dolinay shows over at Code Project how to detect if a removable drive was removed.  It also has the ability to detect if drives are inserted as well.

Why would such a task be important?  If your application has its data being saved to a flash drive or iPod.

I now use a product called Datacatch Librarian; it catalogs the removable media so that you can seamlessly search it within Windows whens if offline.

It enables you to search for files on your flash drives in the same standard Windows search; you can even browse the thumbnails of photos stored on your DVD’s. You manage the physical media library in exactly the same way your put a Word document in a newly created folder, you locate your discs in a storage container icon on your desktop AND it tells you what slot their in.

The best bit is because it’s so integrated into Windows there’s nothing new to learn, it just the same as searching and organizing folders in Windows, very cool and worth a look.
