Jeremiah Morrill created an amazing media kit for WPF nicely named WPF Media Kit on CodePlex. In addition to just video, the kit comes with a MediaElement replacement, a VideoCaptureElement for web cams and a DVDPlayerElement that plays DVDs and supports interactive menus.
He shows off a quick sample of the Deep Color Scale on his blog.
