Is there a way to authenticate a web application without redirecting the browser to the Flickr site? Can you get the frob from the response via a HttpWebResponse object?

Help!

i've got an api key, a shared secret, and i am able to create a new flickr object... but using the downloaded code, exactly as it is, as soon as i get to the flickr.photosearch(...), or flickr.AuthGetFrob(...) etc, i get a timeout error... what could this be?

i'm sure its something really silly.

I'm new with FlickrNet API. How can I retreive NOTES left for a pariticular photo?

(I'm able to retreive comments and tags using PhotosCommentsGetList(photo.PhotoId) and TagsGetListPhoto(photo.PhotoId) respectively)

@progr what is the file's name you're putting in? Have you stepped into it with a debugger to verify you're putting in the entire file name with extention. AKA "myCoolPic", when "myCoolPic.jpg" is expected

photo.OwnerName and photo.CleanTags returns null and photo.DateUploaded returns 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM.

photo.Title, however, returns fine,

@coder: Are you sure you have a valid photo return?

The flickr API may have shifted since this article was published, I'd check out http://www.codeplex.com/FlickrNet for a more up-to-date SDK

What do u mean by a valid photo return? Can you please elaborate on this a bit more?

I am also getting the photo.DateUploaded & DateTaken values as 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM. I am getting the other details correctly i.e. the title and source of the image.

One more thing is I am getting this error when I look for pictures in photostream using flickr.PhotosGetNotInSet() & pictures inside an album using flickr.PhotosetsGetPhotos(). When I search for albums uisng flickr.PhotosetsGetList(), I get the album dates correctly.

@jaikit you can't. It is a security measure so the person that uses your application proves they give you the developer permission to access their photos.

I have tried the two authorize buttons above, but the tempfrob value gets nulled out between the button clicks. I also tried to copy the value manually in the debugger from the AuthMeButton click and then paste the value back into the CompleteAuthButton click and that failed too.

Does anyone know why this would be?

I get the part about require a user to validate that they be permit you to access their photo's but what about if I am accessing my own photos?

@Jason Farrell, As in you want other users of your application to have access to your photos? Or the user to have access to their own photos? The 2nd option should be straight forward by them just authorizing to use the application.

I would suggest hitting up the flickrnet guys as they have a deeper knowledge of their API.

I don't get this done...

This is what I need to do. I need to programmatically sign in users via ApiKey and Secret. I am using a custom web application for users to upload photos.

@Tolga a lot of API services are like this. This article is extremely old, i'd suggest going to http://www.codeplex.com/FlickrNet and using that updated system. They also have http://flickrnet.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Examples for additional samples
