Don't try to understand SOA; just get it done!
Based on my recent conversations at NAF there seems to be this dichotomy between Enterprise Architects (EA) and Solution Architects (SA) in terms the chances of success of SOA at a larger scale. Winning the hearts and minds of SAs is one of the fundamental critical success factors for SOA implementation strategy to get off the ground.
