An interesting idea - I am currently looking at SC 2007 and SoftGrid when I ran across this - but there is an easier way using a different hammer.

The OSDs populated on the client come from the server, based on database settings. Individual users don't delete SoftGrid apps, the SoftGrid Admin does. It would be much easier to pull from the SQL database centrally, which could also give you information on actual usage.
