Advance Data Migration Map Editor for CRM 4.0

On behalf of the Microsoft CRM Product team in India, I would like to take this opportunity to announce the release of Advanced Data Migration Map Editor for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. The Map Editor is released at http://www.codeplex.com/mscrmmapeditor in source format under the Microsoft Public License.

The Map Editor allows users to prepare advanced XML maps needed for migrating data into MSCRM using Data Migration Manager. This tool enables user to create/edit entity maps, attribute maps, complex transformation maps, and pick list maps, reference maps and user maps.

The User Guide located at http://www.codeplex.com/mscrmmapeditor/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=11777 details information on how to get started with the map editor. The map editor is created as a project in order to develop a community which can actively use as well as contribute to enhancing the tool with further improvements down the road.

Cheers,

Gaurav Agrawal

What's the benefit by using this tool compare with Scribe?

Scribe is a more mature and more flexible data migration tool than DMM.  For example, it can handle more datasources than just CSV format, can handle fields with carriage returns/line feeds/special characters, etc.

If DMM works, then use DMM since it is free.
