CRM Accelerators – Part VII – CRM Notifications Accelerator

Last week we introduced the Extended Sales Forecasting Accelerator which is part of the CRM Accelerators for Microsoft Dynamics CRM customers and partners to be released in the next few months, each week we will unveil more details of each accelerator. In this article we feature the CRM Notifications Accelerator.

CRM Notifications Accelerator

The CRM notifications accelerator allows users to subscribe to the CRM “business events” that are significant to them, e.g. a salesperson is interested in new leads and opportunities assigned to them whereas a customer service representative is interested in new service cases assigned to them. Once the user has subscribed (each user manages their subscription profile) to the types of events that are important to them they can elect how they want these event notifications to be delivered. Notifications are delivered via a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed and can be consumed with many desktop tools including Microsoft Outlook 2007 or the standard news feed Windows Vista® gadget.

The CRM notifications accelerator further drives system and process efficiency for users by giving them visibility into the business events which are directly relevant to their role.

Kind regards,

Reuben Krippner

Hi, im trying to download this accelerator on my VPC, but when i click on the setup.exe, a message occurs where it says:"Setup has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are dorry for the inconvenience". Can anybody tell me what can be the cause of this problem?

Houston, we´ve a problem. The CRM Notifications Accelerator won´t work with multi-tenancy installation. I´ve installed it on a german multi-tenancy installation. I can subscribe to a view accounts for example. But when I open the feed overview and click on a link to open an account, my ORG_UNIQUE_NAME is missing. So I have to manually correct the link - and guess what: then we can open MSCRM with the correct link (guid to account).

Sorry Accelerators-Team, but I think, you´ve missed something or the setup-routine won´t work for multi-tenancy installations.

Best regards

Hmm...  I don't think the default installation will work with an IFD deployment.

I can get the RSS links to work if I'm local, but not remote.

Any ideas?  I can't wait to get this setup.

Thanks, Chris.

Hello,

I installed the notifications accelerator on 2 different deployments, RSS feeds worked but I encounter a huge issue: no Activity(task ,email, phone etc) could be Saved as Completed any more. It gave me an "Invalid Argument" error page with no other clues in the logs. I tried for several hours to make it work and in the end a found the solution to fix the problem: Restore CRM Database from a backup and repair the CRM Server installation(from add/remove programs). Ofourse RSS do not work after that, but I do not want it anymore:(. I hope anybody will fix this issue!
