Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile Express Tips

Maximum number of records displayed on the Mobile Express grid

We have used the Records Per Page option used by the CRM Application to drive the number of records displayed on the mobile express grids. We scale down the number by a factor of 5 to make it more palatable for the mobile scenario. If your setting for Records Per Page is 50 in the CRM Application then Mobile Express will display a maximum of 10 records per page. As always your comments, concerns and feedback are most welcome.

Empty Custom Fields

So you have customized an entity’s Mobile Express form by adding the fields you would like to see when you access the entity using Mobile Express on your phone. When you click on the entity’s record from the grid you don’t see all the fields, what’s going on? We have chosen to show only the fields with data in them on the Mobile Express entity read only form. The team felt that it would be prudent to not show fields with no data and take up screen real estate on an already small mobile phone screen. You will be able to see all fields you have added to the form when you enter edit mode on the phone by clicking the Edit button in the read only form. Hope this feature proves useful. We would love to hear your comments, concerns and feedback.

Hi - the app is great - anyway to create or change status of activities (appointments and phone calls)?

It would be nice to have the option to hide things from the home screen, yet still make them available through related entities.  We have some custom entities that are related to accounts and such, so I only want them visible from there, not cluttering up the home screen.

Also viewing opportunity relationships would be a very nice addition, as thats what our field reps use to store the contacts on.  Maybe I'm missing it, but I dont see a way to expose that.

Do we still have the ability to set entities to be "read only", as we had with the 3.0 and beta for 4.0 Mobile Express?  I suppose we could just remove the "edit" button?

our topics:

- to set a entity to read-only

- to set a specific attribute to read-only

- creating directly a related entity (e.g. you see the list of tasks of an contact and in this page should be the NEW button for a task which is related to the contact. I think this is absolutly a MUST). This should work for all related entities.

Thanks and good work so far!!!

@ Ted, Andreas

There is no ability to mark an entity as ReadOnly only for Mobile in the current release.

Thank you for the feedback. Currently we allow creating related Notes for entities in Mobile Express.

Has anyone tried to add the function to create a new Task from an active record, Contact lets say? I'm puzzled why this is not standard functionality but overall I'm thrilled Mobile Express is finally released for v4

The only activity form that contains edit is the task. I see the source includes form id="editForm" method="post" on the task main form but not on the others.

Is there really no way to edit phone calls, appointments, service cases?
