What's going on?

So, the question a lot of folks probably have is "what's going on with Connect"? Since the launch of Connect earlier this year, we've been busy with a number of things, mostly onboarding new customers and assisting existing ones. The Connect team has an interesting challenge- we have both internal and external customers, so you may find me using the term "customer" to mean Microsoft's external customers or the product teams that Connect assists in communicating with their customers.

At any rate, what the Connect team is up to now- we're all busy drafting the specifications for the next major revision of Connect, due out later this year. We're establishing a stable release cycle now that we're post-launch, and getting that off the ground, establishing its momentum, is the primary focus of the team.

We're working on major improvements to the Connect user interface, the Feedback system (my area), the survey system, and a number of other improvements to better serve the product teams in communicating with their customers. A non-inclusive list:

  • More flexible feedback- making it easier to track, find, and submit feedback.
  • Improvements to the Feedback Overview page, such as how the various lists are organized and accessed (yes, we do pay attention!)
  • Usability updates to the entire site- we're really focusing hard on this, as we want the site to be as easy to use as possible. There's a lot of places we can improve here.
  • Survey enhancements.

There's more, obviously, but this covers some of the big ones. Quite a number of things we're working on are intended to improve how the product teams use the Connect site to communicate with their testers.
