You can download the resizer here . I don't know about you, but I am sorely missing the XP toy for
Great app! Thank-you. I too am frustrated by the diminished 'right click' options with Vista but am very happy to have stumbled across your site. Cheers and thanks again.
You ROCK !!! Thank you sooo much for this. Was missing the XP powertoy very badly. Just tested it on my Vista Ultimate and works GREAT !
Thanks again !

WhoHOOOO!!!! I'm a semi-pro photographer and have access to expensive dedicated photo retouching apps, but nothing beats a simple right click -> resize when its gotta get proofed quick. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
After a few people complained, I was able to illicit the help of one Paul Rubenstein to help figure out
I cannot get this to work in Vista Ultimate 64-bit. It installs without error but there are no resize options in the right-click menu. Reboot did not help.
Seth,
Yeah, I should have thought about this. I will look into fixing this in the near future.
This is a really great app and something I've definitely missed in Vista. However there seems to be some kind of problem with Scandinavian letters.
When I try to use the resizer to photos in folders which have Scandinavian letters in their names, such as kesäkuu (june in Finnish) it gives the following error message:
The following files failed to resize: D:\Omat tiedostot\Kuvat\Kes kuu 2007\Pict4563.jpg
It's not a big problem but hopefully something that could be fixed in future releases.
Thanks for a great program nonetheless.
That's right. I am not properly supporting this currently.
I will try to add support soon.
Perfect. Now the BIG mistery is WHY this feature is *not* native on Vista. Big question mark, but thanks a lot for this utlity!
i cannot get the pic to resize to exactly 300 by 300 why? it resized it to 300 by 292 even when i put in the custom 300 by 300. i need this to be exact or the site i'm uploading to wont take it.. please help!
The picture needs to be of the correct aspect ratio.
This tool does not allow you to do that - you will need to crop the image to the correct ratio before using the tool to do that. Make sure the width and height is the same. then you can use the tool to resize.
this is good but i want msdn help
thank you s much! spent ages looking for this...
In September you said you were going to fix the missing resize options in the right-click menu for Vista x64. Do you still plan on fixing this?
I was hoping you would have a fix for the issue with Vista x64, any plans on when it will be getting released?
I still plan on doing it, but am side-tracked with some work stuff and so have very little time to give to it. I will publish it as soon as I make it.
I cant get it to work at all after I install it.
When I run the attached installation it says "Repair" or "Remove" I just want to install it and use it.
HELP.
Please keep me posted about your work on the 64-bit version! I really need a program like this for my work. Thanks so much for developing this!!!
Are the command line options available for this app? I'd really like to call it from vb.
I was wondering if you still need x64 testers, if it helps to complete it quicker, really looking forward to this app.
Great app. I'm so glad you wrote this to make up for my favorite power toy. Is there any way to change the default sizes on the right click menu? I know you can go in and select custom, but it would be really handy if you could give users the ability to change the sizes available from the right click menu. Or at least add 1280 to the options.
Thanks again for the great tool.
I can't set defaults when I choose to overwrite. Other then that it looks a great repalcement for the XP powertoy. But without the overwrite option it's useless to me. Is there a solution? I work with Vista premium.
just an fyi. for some reason when i change the target option to either "overwrite the files" or "other", the set defaults button grays out.
other then that, the program seems to work pretty well ... thank you for giving an alternative to image resizer!
i'm running vista enterprise.
Thank you... Thank you... Thank you...
Wow this is just what I need, please please please make it compatible with X64 systems! Please.....
pleeaase... oh PLEASE create this for 64-bit XP & Vista!
Very cool utility! I like how easy it is to use. My only complaint is the quality of the JPEGs aren't so great after being resized. Do you plan on adding a quality setting?
Great tool, still would like to see a x64 version, have any ETA on when one will be released?
I installed this then saw the no x64 support... Back to the drawing board for me.
Hey,
I'm wondering if you have forgotten about the x64 version, any ETA yet on when it will be out?
Missing this tool so much on my x64 laptop :-(
Thanks
Works so well!! thank you tremendously
OOooooo. Hope a x64 bit version comes out :(
I am selecting and resizing on my 32 bit but the size doesn't change... does this mean it is not working properly? Thank you! :)
Hi, just another person hoping for an x64 version ^_^
Found this 64 bit solution from a similar blog, works with my Windows Server 2008 64 bit edition, so I guess it should with Vista.
Just run a 32 bit version of Windows Explorer with this command:
%windir%\SysWOW64\explorer.exe /separate, /root, c:
Nice app, better than MS' version I'd say, as it's intelligent enough to work out that an image is portrait or landscape.
I also await the proper 64 version though.
should have default vista action in the first place, but thanks for the tool!
tanxx alot for tis i trely neeeded it
i miss de power toyss thou
xx

Great Job Thank You , I needed it.
For some reason resize and overwrite the existing photo. I need to resize 1000's of imagies, but need to keep the original file. It just says the following file failed to resize. Any idea?
Do you have any ETA on when a x64 install will be available?
looking forward to 64 bit version thanks
can't say more about my regrets on going with vista 64 ...
Hi, heres a bug:
I am using a german windows vista and whenever the folder contains characters like ü ä ö resize is not possible . All other folders work very well!!!
Thanks,
Patrick
Hi, awesome program, but as the others there's a problem with non A-Z characters.
I had a "HøDR" folder (ø because the name "HDR" was already taken), and it couldn't continue. Though when I used "HeDR" instead, and it worked perfectly.
Again thanks for the program!
I would love to use it but unfortunately I am on a 64bit version of vista Familiale Premium, please let me know if a Vista 64 version will be available soon ?
Thanks again for sharing this GREAT tool !
Excellent program, thank you so much!
Boo & hiss to microsoft for not integrating image resizer into vista OR offering a power toy download.
I love it. I've been grumbling about that lost Power Toy for a year.
Thank You so much for sharing it!!!
A quick fix to make this work in x64 is to do the following to the registry.
under
HKCR\jpegfile\shell\
Add Key named Resize
Add Key under Resize named command
Modify the (Default) REG_SZ value to full path of ImageResizer.exe and include space %1 at end
Now of course Shahar could add this to his installation script so everyone wouldn't have to do this hack. In addition you could add other file types by going to the other types under the HKCR and doing the same.
Just a heads up for all you x64ers out there like me.
-Josh Squires
Thanks a lot for that vista64 fix! Been waiting for that.
I can confirm that adding the registry values pointed out by Josh do indeed work on XP x64 SP2 fully patched. However, does anyone know how to only get one instance of this great image resizer to come up when resizeing multiple images? Currently, if I select five images to resize I get five different instances of Image resizer.....one for each picture. Any ideas???
brilliant!! most annoying thing for me lacking in vista, thank you for developing...
Brilliant !! I always used THE XP one but now I have Vista......I tried VSO but got cheesed off having to keep clicking past messages. This one worked right away-just chose a default size and away. Does just what it says on the tin with NO click, click, click !!
Thankyou very much indeed.
Thanks! .. I was looking for something like this.
The overwrite function is not working (also not when the programm has administrator rights) ... So its useless for me.. I must convert always to an rezised folder and then copy it over my fotos again. Also when yo tip on overwrite the default box goes grey. So i think its a little bugy... Is there a fix coming, or is there other solutions on the web ???
Very useful program and like many people said a similar program should have been included in vista. However i miss one option:
An option to set JPEG quality
Great work! Thank you so much.
Really hope if you could add the jpeg quality (%) to this app!
Holy Crap ----- Thank You
I found you from this link below. Also has the x64 fix on that page.

Hey All,
this is a great tool! The most missed part of Vista!
The registry hack worked for me fine for about 1 week (x64), but then randomly just dissapeared from my shell????
I have removed the reg key, and re-added it, even moved the .exe file to c:\ and pointed the registry hack to there, but it will not re-appear at all!
Has anyone else had this issue, and if so how did you fix it??
Thanks for your help.
Have used resizer power toy for years, both business and personal. I just bought new computer with XP Pro OS and now realize old resizer no longer available. Found your website thru Google search and downloaded your resizer. Trying to install, am advised MS Net Framework must first be installed. Is there any way to avoid this? Net Framework appears to be quite large, yet I don't no of any other need I will have for it (I really don't even know what it is). I just need resizer as simple and easy to use as the old one. Can anyone advise? Thanks.
I am running Vistax64 and would like to be able to deploy this on client sites without tampering with the registry. Are there any plans for future development to be fully compliant and compatible wit hVista X64. After All, the whole push to x64 was for increased use of the OS, not the current status of greatly reduced functionality when it comes to helper apps such as this. Any feedback would be appreciated.
thank you so much for the powewr tool like every one else it is a well needed tool. thank you
Excellent work, to the program and the script for vista 64 bits.
Thanyou so much!!
Actually it works great on XP x64 - thank you so much for taking the time to do MS' work for them ;-)
Great tool. As stated above, I really missed this type of powertoy from XP. Thank you!
Iedereen kent ze wel, de tools van Sysinternals . Mark Russinovich is echter niet de enige Microsofter
Wonderful tool,!!
Woks Great with Vista 64bit
Thank You!!
