AggravatingForSure. Because it wants you to get a Zune and use Windows DRM?

Framework changes that can't be dynamically loaded, without upsetting running apps.

1. Run the updates.

2. Cancel the reboot.

iTunes shuts itself off some place in here.

3. Start Windows Task Manager and kill iPodService.exe and iTunes.exe

4. Start iTunes.  You've got the new version.

Apple doesn't really have any excuses here.  They should quit taking the "easy" way out by forcing a reboot.

I still dont understand why people buy these IPods/Zunes

For a fraction of the price, you can get better and stronger hardware (that runs on AA batteries), better sound quality, plays anything, no silly DRM protection garbage, and an explorer interface just like a USB drive.

Personally, I use iriver, but there are a million other non-mac/non-MS options out there, and you cant go wrong.

If it makes you feel better, I own a Mac, and it's the same over here. For most (if not all) ITune update OSX requires a reboot... annoying, but only because of not really knowing why.
