I have found that there is a .NET library called BlogLib (&lt;a target="_new" href="http://digitalretrograde.com/Projects/BlogLib/"&gt;http://digitalretrograde.com/Projects/BlogLib/&lt;/a&gt;) that at least makes some things easier depending on the blog engine and comes with the source.  The library uses XML-RPC (&lt;a target="_new" href="http://www.xml-rpc.net/"&gt;http://www.xml-rpc.net/&lt;/a&gt;).
