Remembrance 9/11
We all seem to remember where we were on September 11, 2001. Myself - I was called out of a UN/CEFACT meeting at a World Trade Center, the one in Rotterdam. Too far away from home.
I remember that evening in Rotterdam, when a few of us from the US Delegation got together to try and exchange any latest news we had from home. One of our group that evening had his office in the WTC, and all of his colleagues were suddenly gone. Harry Featherstone, who had been with us the day before in Rotterdam and was flying back home to the States was suddenly diverted to Canada when all US airspace was closed. One person I remember from some other standards meetings, Ed Felt, was on Flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania; killing all on board.
For the last two 9/11’s I’ve been out of the country at CEFACT meetings. On the first anniversery I remember standing with others Delegates from around the world, for a moment of silence in Geneva at the UN, to remember the victims. This will be the first year that I will be home for 9/11, and I haven't forgotten.
