Josh Einstein's OneNote Calendar

Over the weekend it looked like Josh Einstein (TEO author) released a OneNote powertoy to display all your notes in a calendar view. Looks like he is using the common control in Vista that is used by the PIX image viewer, Windows Calendar & Media Player and generating a HTML page via OneNote's OM. I really like the UI and the experience, though it works best on widescreens imho. Thank to Patrick & Mike for the pointers. You can download it here: Einstein Technologies OneNote Calendar

Widescreen is best, sure because of the preview pane. But if you switch to portrait mode on a Tablet PC, the preview pane will flip to the bottom. Its a tough challenge though trying to fit the contents of the page along with the calendar at the same time. Might do something with "super tooltip" like pop ups next time.

Great tool.  It would be nice to get to it easily while working in OneNote.

I tried to install this on Vita without luck.  Any ideas?  If I go to the page in IE7 and click the install, nothing happens.

Unless I'm missing something, is the only way to launch this to return to the webpage and use that launch button? If so that's absurd - it means it's only usable if I'm online? There aren't any instructions, and it doesn't appear to add a button or menu item in OneNote or in the Windows startup menu. Bizarre.

Also just to be clear it should be pointed out that this is sort of ad-ware - there are two links in the Calendar that display constantly and link back to the author's web site. Certainly his right (he wrote it) but the review should have pointed that out. I'd also like to know if the app works as a web beacon of some sort and notifies the author when it's used. I looked all over http://www.einsteintech.net and couldn't find a privacy policy, so who knows.

I'm also bothered by this and wonder what was just installed on my computer.  As Barry noted there are no instructions whatsoever online and it launched from the website.

I'm usually quite careful about what I install but since Daniel recommended it I gave it a twirl.  Now I'm a bit upset I installed something that appears to only launch from a webpage.  It would have been nice to know that beforehand.

Me again.  What is weird is that the webpage warns that you must install it using Internet Explorer unless you have a special Firefox add-in.  This time I went back and clicked on the download link with Firefox just to see what would happen.  And I was greeted with the common download window.

Downloaded the file to me PC and now any time I click on that file the calendar launches.  Which is cool, but why did no such desktop link appear when I installed from IE?

So...it in fact works better when installing from Firefox, because it saves a file to the desktop I can click to launch it!

Confused...it must have taken him many hours to write this...you'd think he could take 5 minutes and post some instructions.  Of course it is free, but why post it without instructions, especially since it is not obvious how it is supposed to work.

Me again, last time I promise :-).

I discovered that the application installed a file in the start menu in a fold called Einstein Technolgies.  So that is where you launch it from.

All is well and it is a neat ap.
