I also believe there are extensions which allow you to change the max version of any extension so this will continue to work.

Finally you can download this extension, open the file (it's a zip file) and then change the version info in the rdf file. A bit more complicated but it works (and that is what I do).

If you find it useful, you can go to the site, download the extension (right click and save the .xpi file). Unzip the .xpi file with any zip program, and look at the file named install.rdf. Change the em:maxVersion tag to be something greater than your firefox version, rezip, and install the extension locally. Seems to be working for me.

undo renaming (This was tricky, you need to do it from command prompt using ren clipnote.xpi.zip clipnote.xpi)

Yesterday I installed MR Tech Local Install 5.3.2.6. Very good utility. I then downloaded Clip to One Note, which previously hadnt been succesful because it wasnt compatible with Firefox 2. MR Tech first asked if I wanted to cancel the installation delay. I clicked No. Next it asked if I wanted to bypass the version check. I said yes. The install took less than a second. Now, when you select a portion or all of a web page, and choose "clip to OneNote" from the context menu, all you have to do is Open a page in One Note and Paste in the clip. The site url is added at the end. Wonderful for OneNote users.

To avoid the problem about secure updates, just follow the steps, that were written aleady but with little addition:

his plugin can also work with Firefox 2 and OneNote 2007. The trick is:

download plugin

rename clipnote.xpi to clipnote.xpi.zip

open it and extract file install.rdf

open extracted install.rdf using notepad

change <em:maxVersion>1.5</em:maxVersion>

to e.g. <em:maxVersion>3.5</em:maxVersion>

delete the line

<em:updateURL>http://www.freewebs.com/onenote/update.rdf</em:updateURL>

save file to zip (overwriting existing copy)

undo renaming (This was tricky, you need to do it from command prompt using ren clipnote.xpi.zip clipnote.xpi)

to install I opened file from fireforx file and automatically addons box came up. And it worked !
