Experiences of a Web Infrastructure Architect in the Hosting Industry
Blogging from MMS 2005

This week I'm at Microsoft Management Summit 2005 in Las Vegas. I don't like Vegas very much, but the content will be very interesting I hope. Look to see my take on what I learn here at my blog.

I'm debating wearing my RedHat cap to one of the sessions to see what reaction I get. Don't get me wrong, I firmly stand behind Microsoft and what it is trying to do in the Web Hosting space to compete with the likes of RedHat; However, one of the common problems which face Web Hosters is how to manage a heterogeneos data center. Anything they deploy to manage their systems would ideally be able to help support both their Windows and Linux environments. I'm interested in seeing how well tools such as MOM could be used to manage both Windows and non-Windows based systems. Wearing my cap would be a symbol of the need to have cross-platform management.

What do you think? Should I wear the RedHat cap to MMS 2005? Let me know and post comments to my blog. Your voice will determine whether I wear the cap or not.

I vote, "Do it"! Once I wore a Windows 2000 T-Shirt at Lotusphere, and got lots and lots of dirty looks and even a few comments!

It will certainly strike up conversation. If you do this you also have to wear Windows Stuff to a Linux event.
