Experiences of a Web Infrastructure Architect in the Hosting Industry
Unsinkable Hoster

Wired.com has an article reporting about Web Hoster Zipa, who is still keeping their servers up despite being smack in the middle of one of the greatest natural disasters in US history. Apparently there is an employee who is keeping a blog hosted there giving updates, but I haven't been able to connect yet. Also, while they are currently running on generator power, they are at the mercy of getting their deisel tanks re-feuled. Let this be a lesson to all hosters on the importance of emergency contingency plans and necessary equipment.

My prayers are with all of those affected by the disaster.
