I'd like to thank everyone who came along to the PDC session COM305 “Windows Communications Foundation ("Indigo"): Integrating COM+ and MSMQ Applications”. Despite being up against Don Box in the same timeslot, it was excellent to see an overflowing room. As my questions to the audience at the start showed, there was clearly a high degree of skepticism that Microsoft was going to make it simple to expose your COM+ apps (VB6 or whatever) as Indigo endpoints. It was very gratifying to see broad surprise when I performed this with no code in about 2 seconds flat. From here, the best that I can hope for is that folks will be encouraged to try this out in their environments and shout when this does not work as advertised. PDC attendees got the build that I was using (the WinFX Runtime Components September CTP) on the handout DVDs and non-attendees can get that from here.

Thanks to my colleague Anand for helping out with the MSMQ portion of the talk. It was great to see the MSMQ receiver running throughout the presentation, receiving from an MSMQ client early in the session and happily receiving Indigo sent messages towards the end – no changes, no stop and no restart required.

I’ll package up the sample code and get it posted up here within the week. Slides soon too.
