It's about time! Jason is the program manager on the
Integration & Web Service program on the patterns & practices team
(the same program I'm the product manager of). Jason is a really sharp guy and
he knows a lot about Web services. I think this is going to be a really great
blog. Also, now you have two places to go to find out what p&p is doing
in the Web services space. We can only hope Jason will write more entries than I
do ... hey, I'm trying to get better. So go check out the Hogg Blog (what a name ... haha)
and read about the 3 things Jason and I (and the rest of our great
team) are working on.

Well, then you may want to tune into a webcast we're recording live
on Thursday the 25th. You can find out more about the webcast here.

Okay, to get you up to speed quickly, we have this WS-I Basic Security
Profile Sample Application which was designed by the WS-I organization and is implemented by all vendors
doing interop testing against the Basic Security
Profile. We've implemented it using WSE 2.0 on the 1.1 version of the .NET
Framework and you can download it and even view a webcast if you go here.
Right now we're in the process of porting it to WSE 3.0 and .NET 2.0. You can
download the preview of it from its community.

In this webcast, we're basically going to be talking about what it takes to
implement secure interoperable web services using - WSE and .NET - and what the
issues are. We'll also talk about what were some of the things we ran into with
migrating WSE 2.0 to WSE 3.0. We're even going to talk briefly about what
was involved in migrating to the 2.0 version of the Enterprise
Library.

Unless something comes up, Mark
Fussell, the Program Manager of WSE, is planning on joining Jason Hogg, the
Program Manager of the Web Services program in patterns &
practices, and I during the webcast. Unfortunately, Ron Jacobs, who normally runs these webcasts is
out of town on business so he won't be joining us.

So, be sure to mark your calendars, tune in, and get your questions answered
... live! See you then.
