David Ornstein's WebLog

I'm a Lead Program Manager in the Digital Documents group at Microsoft; we're part of the Windows team.

WikiTalk is born (or at least we're driving quickly towards the hospital!)

OK.  I've started to post information about WikiTalk, my new object-oriented language for FlexWiki.  It's probably going to talk another few days to get the documentation usable and it'll likely be another few days after that before I post the binaries (and then a week after that when I actually checkin).  However, the build on www.flexwiki.com is live with the first version of WikiTalk (thought it's really 0.9).  Read more about WikiTalk here.

This has been a blast so far: starting with the concept, writing the lexical analyzer, hand-coding the parser, building the interpreter and using reflection to ties the object system together.  It's enough to make me think about going back to writing code for a living :-)

Hi David,

this is so cool, I can't wait to give this a go.

Will this enhancement be available in the source code on GotDotNet?

Of course it'll be available! It'll take a week or two to be sure that it's safe (since I've had to rip out the spleen and many other organs inside the body of the patient). But I will be checking this all in soon.

of course, I expect to checkin a 0.9 versions and it'll take collaboration with the community to get the bugs out.

Can you please do something about the default font so that it is readable in Firefox? This is a long-standing problem and a showstopper for many of us.

[Please note: I do not have knowledge of any code used for FlexWiki and I do not know why the text is so small in Firefox. If it is a Firefox bug and you are setting the text to a readable font, I apologize.]

This truly is amazing. I can't wait to try it out and see what can be done with a FlexWiki.

P.S. I think the FireFox font size problem is down to the "font-size: 80%;" entry for the .Main class. If you use somthing like "font-size: x-small;" instead it should be a readable size in IE and FF.
