Upgrading from VS2005 trial to a "real" license, without re-installation

Is there a way to upgrade an installation of a time limited trial of Visual Studio 2005 to a full license?  Without reinstallation?

Yes, just run Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Change. One of the options is to convert from trial to retail.  Enter a product key and you'll have the fully-licensed product.

When doing this, at some point you are going to want your product key.  A lot of folks in the real world get their Visual Studio keys though volume licensing or MSDN Subscriptions which have the keys burned into the media.

If you find yourself in this situation, then take a look at the following tip courtesy of Rob Caron:-
