If you live in the Raleigh-Durham area, and are an unemployed developer, check this out...

http://www.techengage.org/

The good folks at TechEngage are offering excellent training for people who need to get re-tooled. Cost is $149, and the trainers they bring in normally teach courses at full fee.

This non-profit group offers unemployed or underemployed folks a chance to greatly improve their skillset through training that they might not be able to afford otherwise.

Kudos to TechEngage for setting all this up. In an age of streamlining, this is really a classy move.

Is there anything like this for the unemployed (or just looking to bone up on skills with actual teachers) in the Atlanta area?

# Not that I know of

This is something that Connie Marthinsen and a few other folks in the Triangle do for the community. Very nice event. Differs from a code camp in that it really is a high-end multiday training, delivered just as it would be to a large corporation.

I don't see any reason why we could do this. If we had the training material we could do the same thing on a weekend for some people. Do you know the training material they are using?
