The Charlotte Code Camp was a great success!
80 or so folks enjoyed a great day of portals content, and good conversation. Because this code camp focused on one specific technology, attendance was a bit smaller and much more varied in travelling distance. We had attendees from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Washington DC, New Jersey, New York, Indiana, and Alabama! Ted Pattison and David Leinenger gave great presentations around Sharepoint and DotNetNuke, respectively.
Here's a sampling of feedback:
"Excellent! I drove down from Washington, DC for this - Well worth the trip!!"
"The entire event was awesome. Liked the extra time that was spent on one topic"
"Next time, put out some freaking coffee!!!"
OK, well other than not having coffee, we had a great event. A-Press and Microsoft Press generously donated books for the group, and in spite of a few of the books walking off during the day (people, it was a community event, what are you doing stealing the books????), we still had enough books for everyone who stayed to the end.
If the community wants to hold another code camp, we'll look into it in the Spring time frame.
Finally, huge thanks to the Enterprise Guild folks, specifically Bill Jones, Mark Wilson (and your wife!), and Brian Gough, for all their help in pulling this event off.
Finally, if you want to experience a code camp in person, there is one scheduled in Charleston, SC, on September 17th. Check it out here.
