Code Camp Atlanta - Great job, guys!
Wow! 270 or so of your closest friends discussing code in an open exchange. Great job, everyone! We had so many excellent pieces to this event. It says a lot about the people in our community that put it together. Thanks to Jim Wooley, Matt Ranlett, Dan Attis, Keith Rome, Brendon Schwartz, Mark Dunn, Todd Fine (send me a nasty email if I forgot anyone on this)....
Some of the highlights of the event:
We managed to include Alan Griver and Huong Nguyen from Seattle in this one. Thanks guys for coming down and bringing all the great CodePlex SWAG. They also did a couple of talks around Test-Driven Design. It blended in nicely with William Howell's talk.
We ran another .NET University event there, with 18 graduates. Thanks to Todd Fine, Justin Smith, Noah Subrin, and, uh, Noah Subrin again :-) for teaching the fundamentals of .NET.
MS Developer Evangelist Joe Healy tried to sneak under the radar, but we saw his name on the resistration list, and quickly added him to the Experts panel at lunch. Joe is my peer down in Florida.
We had several UG leaders and MVPs come in, both to teach and learn. Great to see all of you. Lou Vega and Murray Gordon also mentioned that they will be running a .NET U in Charleston soon (was it Feb 3?). Watch the web site (www.dotnet-u.com) for registration details.
We had great SWAG from a bunch of people, but I have to give special recognition to Cizer, who donated almost $250K of software to the attendees (that's not a typo. 250K). They donated copies of their “Cizer .NET Reporting (CNR) Drop-In Development Toolkit” product, which provides developers with the ability to embed zero-footprint, ad-hoc reporting and Reporting Services report design in the browser. Trey Johnson (tjohnson@cizer.com, www.sqlserverbi.com) provided this to us. Thanks for supporting the local developer community like that, Trey!
Also, thanks again to DeVry for both hosting the event and providing breakfast for us.
We'll plan to do this again next year :-)
