Sony's new blue-violet laser
Sony
unveils its new “Blu-ray” laser
. Say hello to 25GB per disc!
The article claims 2 hours of hi-def video, but this has got to be using a really inefficient compression algorithm.
It should be able to do MUCH more than that on 25 GB!

Not only are the disks blue, they're green. 51% paper (but no word on how easy it would be to actually recycle them.)

Hey Ed!
Not sure. High-Def video is 6x the signal density of regular, so 25G for 2 hours compared to 4.7G for 2 hours of regular seems a goodly ratio.
What I WISH they would do is knuckle down and start using MPEG-4 not 2...THEN we'd see serious time!
