&lt;p&gt;I see your point - I knew that too 8 years ago. However we can always reprove a point and to keep working on gathering evidence that is interesting and convincing to others. It's also not so easy to integrate the goodness of ML with .NET as you might think. &amp;nbsp;But I'm very happy indeed to acknowledge how much F# draws on the wonderful work of OCaml, ML and Haskell - indeed recently I wrote on the OCaml list how much the design of generics in C# 2.0 and .NET 2.0 was affected by OCaml. So yes, F# partly about having fun (re-)proving what you already know :-)&lt;/p&gt;
