Cool! I wrote a pretty sweet DX drum machine in VB while beta testing DX7; maybe this article will kick me in the butt to upgrade it to c# and throw all the fun .NET goodies in there. I wrote mine with a focus on live play, so I could change the pattern as it's playing with a keystroke or two. Gotta dig the code out and remove those cool but unupgradable VBAccelerator controls...

Is there a reason why the source code is an MSI? That makes no sense to me and, like most unnecessary and undocumented MSI files, the "cancel" button was clicked as soon as possible.

Whats so wrong with an MSI file? If you except the defaults (in this case) it neatly installed this example in my "My Documents/MSDN" folder along with the code examples MSI's I had installed earlier. I'm not quite sure why it would garner an immediate delete. Oh yeah. This is pretty cool code for demonstrating coding DirectX but as a musician/coder I'm not real sure its of much use musically.
