I read through this and maybe I'm missing something. Where does the "UI" come in regarding "composite UI application block?" Do you have a link to a description of this effort as it applies directly to UI? Thanks,

Norm - You are correct. This post is about one of the pattrns that support composition (just like UIP had shared state and persistence, which isn't really UI).
Er actually just finished settling the UI Element architecture (to let your code add menus, status bars, or whatever your shell exposes), and you can see the first stab at our SmartPartManager architecture in the drop. This iteration we are cleaning up the WorkItem class and next iteration will be all about the shell.

Yesterday we finished some cleanup refactorings around the EventBroker feature of CAB. I'm happy with the result, because it's conceptually simple, it's easy to use, and it isn't much code, yet it helps a lot. I expect some things to be added before release but here is pretty much the core of it as it is right now.
