Hobbyists & HORM

I stumbled on this short post to an mp3car.com forum (see my previous article about these hobbyists).

In this new post, user joepetz shows off a YouTube video of his XPe image booting via HORM on his 'Carputer'. He also demos some of the StreetDeck software hosted on the image. This is cool stuff.

Hi sfiorito, long time no see! I and the Customer Strike Team continue to evangelize the need for this and we're making small inroads here, also wrt to evangelizing the need for an Academic sku. In the near future I don't think we'll see a lot of traction here since any licensing efforts would pretty much need to coincide with a major release of the product where there's other licensing work going on for it to tag along with.

However, the good news is that Weijuan Shi, Lynda Allen and myself continue to fight for this behind the scenes. It would be helpful if any XPe hobbyists out there contact the Customer Strike Team with information on how a hobbyist sku can help you: wecrt@microsoft.com.

Thanks Andy, that's good to hear! Unfortunately, I've been way too busy this past year, but I'd really like to do a write up on getting FBWF configured on XP since I think that's an extremely useful feature. More and more people are looking to build their CarPC's using some form of FLASH, either the new "affordable" SSD's or high speed UDMA CF cards.

Thanks,

Silvio
