Andy's Bio

Andy - Stargate Atlantis

It all started about 20 years ago when i joined the US Submarine force, Fast Attacks boats to be specific. I was an Electronics Tech, my specialty was Electronic Warfare and Electronic Navigation. I devoted 8 of my 10 years to 2 boats, stationed out of Groton, CT & Pearl Harbor, HI.

When I left the Navy I moved to the Puget Sound region to be where my family had put down stakes, I worked for a couple of electronics manufacturers that were consumed by bigger fish in the industry. In '99 i started working at Microsoft as a vendor tester, testing PnP for Windows ME. It was shortly after this that i was hired full time and helped establish the first Windows Embedded Test Team around the spring of 2000.

Since that time i'm now the Test Manager for this platform and it's one of the coolest jobs in the Entertainment & Devices Division. I have a terrific team of folks as passionate about componentization and the embedded platform as I am. While I would argue i'm only on the verge of obsessive compulsive about my work, others would say i'm past the point of no return. <grin>

I have a wife (Michelle) and two kitty cats Beamer and Herschey.  The picture above of me and the Stargate was taken in Vancouver, BC during a set tour of Stargate Atlantis. It was part of the Stargate convention in 2006, ask me about it sometime and I can share more photos with you like me and Amanda Tapping!

Yes, I'm a geek and I'm proud. :-)
