Amir Haque

No, it cannot. Spotlight search and indexing takes place outside of Entourage, while folder sharing is all between Entourage and Exchange Server. Looking at your issue definition, you could be running into a sharing issue. Try this: Make sure the other user (whose Calendar folder you want to view) has provided you at least Reviewer level permissions, now check to see if you can access his Calendar thru OWA in a browser, use explicit URL, like http://www.company.com/exchange/<username>/calendar, if you can do this, then you can access his Calendar in Entourage too. You can use the Advanced option in 'Open Other User's Folder' to specify the explicit OWA URL which worked for you.

re: Spotlight Support in Entourage 2004

Thank you for the suggestion. I am able to view the other calendar by specifying an explicit URL in OWA. However, when I copy that URL into the Advanced option in "Open other users folder" it doesn't work. I receive an error that says the "The user's folder could not be found. Entourage could not find a mailbox for user <username>" BTW, my account is listed with Editor permissions on the other account.

re: Spotlight Support in Entourage 2004

I have a problem that I haven't seen mentioned. We have users that upgraded to 11.2.3 and THEN upgraded to Tiger (OS X 10.4.5). Now the Spotlight preference doesn't show up. Do I need to reinstall all of Office or just Entourage or just the 11.2.3 update or what? The users are working on their Macs so I want to know what will work in stead of jerking them around with this and that experiment.

Thanks
Darryl Zurn

re: Spotlight Support in Entourage 2004

Sorry Peter for this late response. Let me give you an example to help you out here. Let's say the explicit Public URL of that other user's (John Doe) Calendar folder is http://www.company.com/exchange/johndoe/calendar (this could be different based on how OWA is setup in your environment, for internal access it could be http://<Server_NetBIOS_Name>/exchange/johndoe/calendar) and using this URL in a browser you can access it when you provide your own domain credentials. In the 'Advaced Settings' for 'Open Other User's Folder' this explicit URL will translate like this: 'Name' should be the 'Display Name' of that user (John Doe), which you see in the 'From' field when he sends you an e-mail, 'E-mail Address' should be the SMTP e-mail address (johndoe@company.com) for that person in your organization using which a third person (like me, someone outside of your organization) can send him an e-mail and in 'Server Address' field, you can actually type "http://www.company.com/exchange/johndoe" or "http://<Server_NetBIOS_Name>/exchange/johndoe" (note that I am not providing 'calendar' in this URL). You can also use the Internal FQDN (exchserver.windomain.company.com) or IP Address (66.53.88.101) of your Exchange server instead or its NetBIOS name or Public URL. Hope this helps!

re: Spotlight Support in Entourage 2004

Dzurn, first of all this is not a known issue, in fact I have seen no reports of such an issue anywhere. When your users installed 11.2.3 Update for Entourage, which version of Mac OS X they had at that time? Did it work fine then? After that what was their pattern of installation for Mac OS X updates? And I assume they only saw the issue when they arrive at 10.4.5, correct? In Entourage, under Preferences, do you see 'Sync Services' or that's missing too? How many users see this issue and how many are there in total? Try re-applying the 11.2.3 Update as that's simple and won't take much time and let us know what you observe.

Microsoft Entourage: my new e-mail application at Genebrew

PingBack from http://www.genebrew.com/blog/2007/01/06/microsoft-entourage-my-new-e-mail-application/
