Robert, comparing Visio to ConceptDraw and SmartDraw is beyond the scope of my little comments box here but I can say that the substantial ease of use improvements we've added in Visio 2007 (including AutoConnect and Themes feature), coupled with the deep integration with external data, makes Visio 2007 much more attractive both to casual and hard-core diagrammers.

John, we are working on some guidelines for how to develop shapes that work well with themes. I'll either blog about it or we might post a separate article on MSDN.

Maybe it only has two versions, not one per diagram type; doesn't have to lure people in with iPod visions; and sell in a non-marginal market?

hi guys!
i don't really know where to give feedback on the visio 2007 beta (especially shapes support). is there a place i can go to? i'm especially interested in ORM support in Visio, the missing objectification symbol in particiular which is essential to ORM.
do you know a site where i could post this request?

Thanks a lot, Eric! the objectification part is really key to ORM style modelling. also it's important that role connectors can be hooked up to it.
