My top "productivity" tool finds of 2007 - Feb
Coming back from an Achilles operation has given me a chance to pause and reflect on which tools I use in my job. These are not dev tools but tools that are just proving very useful to help get things done. In no particular order:
- RESEARCH: Onfolio (Beta) http://www.onfolio.com/: This is a great tool for collecting, organizing and sharing online content (+ normal content). We acquired it in 2006 - and I can see why, as it has so many great capabilities and is super simple to use. You will need Windows Live Toolbar installed to use it http://toolbar.live.com/ FREE
- RESEARCH: FeedGhost http://www.feedghost.com/: I posted briefly about this before. What can I say - I absolutely adore this RSS Reader/Organizer. I had previously been won over by the simplicity of using Outlook 2007 as my RSS Reader (especially liked the ability to also have the info synced down to my Windows Mobile phone), but FeedGhost has lured me away. I would love to know if anyone has a better RSS reader they are using - as this one beats the others I have used. FREE to TRY

- WRITING: Windows Live Writer (Beta) http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/: I love Word 2007 for blogging - but I keep coming back to LiveWriter which I hereby confirm is my .....official blog posting tool (at least for now!) FREE
- WRITING: OneNote 2007 http://office.microsoft.com/onenote : I tried really hard to like OneNote 2003 - but - lets face it, it didn't really do much and even had valuable note taking features missing that Word and plenty of other editors did well. But OneNote 2007 is a different beast - it integrates so well with email, the internet, your mobile device (client for mobile devices), your second pc (syncing notebooks with ease) and your colleagues that it really is a pleasure to use. There is a trial available. TRIAL AVAILABLE
- RESEARCH: Windows Live Favorites http://favorites.live.com : Lots of sites do this - a online set of web favorites but I have just found it useful as I spend more and more time using http://www.live.com "bits and bobs". Most of my favorites work I now do with Onfolio - but Live Favorites mops up the rest. FREE
- RESEARCH: Birds Eye View in http://maps.live.com : Live Maps are great - but the bit I adore is when there is low level photography available. The satellite stuff is good - but once you switch to low level photos it just make everything so much easier to find! FREE

- ORGANIZING: Foldershare (Beta) http://www.foldershare.com/: Another acquisition we made - but I was using it long before that. A great way of synching files across machines or the internet. Groove and OneNote 2007 both overlap with this - but I find the simplicity of the install very appealing. FREE
I would love to know what other good stuff I am missing out on...
