Just back from holiday… and great “I’m a PC” adverts :-)

I spent last week enjoying the sun (and rain and wind and fog) in Yorkshire and managed to pretty much avoid email/work all week which was great. I did manage a little “evangelism” during the week though. My dad has an old compaq notebook which has been

My thoughts post Devweek 2009. Or rather my one thought – Ruby Rocks

Devweek is my fave multi-day developer conference in the UK and attracts great speakers such as Aaron Skonnard , Neal Ford and Tim Ewald. Which is why I always feel a little humble that I get the chance to present there. This time around I delivered three

While chatting with Tim Ewald last week at Devweek we got onto the topic of “ways to improve the MSDN experience” (Tim sits in that team). Part of that discussion was the “Low Bandwith” option for MSDN which has been around for many months. What I had

Well, it sort of is :-) Eight weeks ago I made my primary blog http://geekswithblogs.net/iupdateable/ for a variety of reasons . I have no plans to change that as geekswithblogs.net is a great service. However I always had at the back of my mind the intention

[This blog is moving to http://geekswithblogs.net/iupdateable ] I have just had a 2 hour battle with Live Mesh which has reminded me just how much I have come to rely on Live Mesh in my day to day life and how well it normally works (It gets the “It just

Short UK developer survey to complete

I previously posted on the VB6.0 survey for UK companies which has a great prize of four days of Visual Basic 2008 training. We do have a second (even shorter) survey which will help us plan for FY10 (which starts July 1st for Microsoft). From the MSDN

Survey on the usage of Visual Basic 6.0 in UK companies – and maybe win a £1640 prize!

[Survey is live from January 21st to January 26th, 2009] I have been working with my marketing colleague Sarah to create a survey to better understand the current reliance on Visual Basic 6.0 in the UK and what plans companies have to move to .NET (or

This blog is moving to http://geekswithblogs.net/iupdateable … but not yet

Just to give you a “warning” that I plan to move over to http://geekswithblogs.net/iupdateable by the end of January 2009 as I explain here . No panic though – this site is still live for the moment AND will not be deleted.

What is in your head?

I previously posted on my “technology themes for 2009” – well, for an internal thing I created a “What is in my head in 2009?” slide in PowerPoint 2007 using SmartArt. My colleague MikeT immediately commented that it was missing bacon butties and online

The “network download gods” are being nice to me and I am 1 hour away from having the ISO of Windows 7 Beta from MSDN Subscriber Downloads (subscription required). It will be more generally available on the 9th if you do not have a subscription. Enjoy
