Mobile HCI and Glasgow
So far the conference has been pretty interesting but unfortunately the time difference with home has made me so tired during some of the talks that I keep yawning. Given that this is a conference on mobile usage it's interesting to see what people one using. Laptops are by and far the major device on use, but the configurations for Wifi via the university is so difficult it's almost criminal. Only one other person has a tablet and I have as of yet not seen him use it in tablet-mode. But then again the tight seating in the lecture hall makes it difficult to actually use the tablet - it's too narrow for me to put it on my lap and the height of the narrow shelf/table is difficult to write on. typing would be okay but still would be uncomfortable over time. Note to furniture makers for schools: "Make seating more comfortable and support natural postures."
A few people have their Palm with store-away keyboards, but paper and pencil still rules.
More from Glasgow later...
