Any idea when this will be on msdn?
I have fought with the issue below with Design 2, and anxiously downloaded Design 3, hoping it would be fixed. No dice!
The problem is when I am exporting selected objects to jpg (or png, for that matter). Their combined dimension when selected is 291x200, as shown at the bottom left of the Design app. However, when I choose Export... Selected Objects, it shows the dimensions as 292x201. Why??? Why can't my dimensions when exporting be exactly the same as when designing them? I thought maybe it was antialiasing, but unchecking that made no difference. I also made sure my X and Y locations were integers, thinking there was some kind of rounding problem. Still no difference.
This has happened with multiple images. I create banners of different sizes for various things, and have had this problem with most of them. I struggle through it, manually forcing different sizes here and there. But this just won't cut it. If I can't get jpgs dimensions that match my design surfact dimensions, I simply can't use this product.
Thoughts? I'm glad to help troubleshoot in whatever way I can. I did help the Deepzoom team troubleshoot a bug with their DLL; I'm glad to help here any way I can as well.
John
ps. I'm sure there are things I can do by creating slices, or setting canvas size, etc. I'm not looking for workarounds, though. Because of how I work, I need this problem solved.
pss. The submit button wasn't working on IE8. I am copying this to Firefox. We'll see if the submit button works now... if you see this, it worked on Firefox, not on IE.
I blogged an example of my problem for you to get a better understanding of what's happening.

Hi John,
The problem you are seeing is not with the export. The design surface selection doesn't take into account the stroke width. Draw something on the artboard, select it, and then adjust the stroke width. You'll see that it never changes the height and width you are referring to, because those values are for the path, not the path and the stroke applied to the path.
When you export, it calculates the entire rendered region, including the stroke, to get the correct boundary for the entire object. Because strokes are not uniform, one stroke can add 10px, but another stroke of the same px size can add only 5px. What you see in the export dialog is the actual, and correct, export size.
If you want to something a specific size, draw a transparent rectangle to the size you want, keep the stroke width zero, and then draw within that rect, keeping the stroke of paths within that bound. Or, set the canvas size to the dimensions you are aiming for, and remember to keep your stroke width within the boundaries.
When will it be available on DreamSpark?
