I'll have to admit I am kind of a fan boy for the work being done by our Microsoft Research teams. Now that I am living in Singapore, I am occasionally running across researchers as the cross the region working on projects. Today I ran in to Neema Moraveji in the Bangkok, Thailand office. Neema works on many projects (you can check them out on his web site here), but showed me a video of his mouse on every desktop work. He set up a class room in which all the children were simultaneously working solving problems together. Very neat to see how the group migrates and works together on-screen.

If you have the time, take a look through the Microsoft Research site on HCI. Lots of interesting work being done by Microsoft researchers. How much of this actually reaches the light of day I am not sure - I know much ends up in real products, but some of it is pretty future-forward which is great.
