Next Gen Finserv
Frank Schlier, a senior analyst at the Gartner Group, will present the opening keynote at Microsoft’s Financial Services Developers’ Conference in New York April 24-25. The originator of Gartner’s financial services vertical group, he will lead the way in looking at what the next generation of financial technology will look like, what will be expected of it, and how it will integrate -- from transaction processing to front end users, whether traders, ATMs, tellers, or financial advisors. What will be the impact of SOA, how does a less tightly coupled architecture affect developers and business users, where will XML services fit into the future, and what will the financial services value chain look like. Although for the first several years Web services were used inside the firewall, advances in security and a growing understanding of how to deploy them have led firms to extend Web services beyond the firewall. CitiGroup’s TreasuryVision, which lets global corporations like Pepsico manage their treasury operations around the world through many different international and domestic banks, is one leading example of what Web services can do.
The developers conference, which attracted 50 people when it started four years ago, has sold out with over 550 attendees registered – 90 percent of them customers – and a waiting list that was 50 and growing at least count.. For information from the presentations, check the Microsoft financial services developers page at http://www.financialdevelopers.com (But wait until they are presented) And, if you want to be first in line next year, bookmark the site, subscribe to the newsletter for financial developers, and check back frequently. And don’t forget to come back to this blog for some informal commentary on the two days.
